Economy and Daily Life
The world runs on Oren coin and Syleth paper — a card economy stretched between honest markets and priced secrets.

The standard currency of the world is the Oren, minted to a common standard the Asterion Pact enforces on every major trade route. Behind the coin stands the real economy: cards. A card''s price follows five things — production quality, rarity of the seal knowledge, difficulty of use, legality status, and historical value. A plain household warding card costs pocket change; a master-sealed original tied to a name from history costs a house.
Daily life runs on modest seal work. A farm keeps a weather-warding card for the storm season. A smith buys heat-shielding seals by the dozen. A midwife carries two healing cards she hopes never to use, and a caravan master will not leave the gate without travel seals and a licensed guard who can activate them. Most of this trade happens in town card markets — stalls of Ancient Cards and cheap element work, watched by the Crossroad Guardians and priced by weary brokers who can read a seal''s quality at arm''s length.
Geography shapes all of it. The Syleth fields of the central lowlands feed the paper supply; Stormblood caravans and couriers out of Auralis move finished cards faster than anyone else; the harbor cities ship them across the sea lanes the Pact keeps open. Kharuun sells obsidian and forge-work, Elyndra sells crystal instruments and resonance seals, Virex sells analysis and verification — and somewhere off every ledger, the forbidden trade sells everything the law says has no price.
