Virex

Virex is the site of the strangest catastrophe on record. In 341 KM a brief contact with a parallel reality dropped a fragment of that other world here. The contact lasted moments; its effects did not. The nervous systems, perception, and seal-reading of the region''s people were permanently changed.

The landscape still misbehaves: broken geometry, glitch-like slips of light, glowing patterns that resemble nerve networks, and old structures standing at angles that argue with logic. Shard research stations dot the region, run by the Shard Researchers, who have spent generations failing to explain the event.

The Parallel Shard itself remains the world''s most carefully studied and least understood object.
