Mireth Sol

Mireth Sol was born in 314 KM in Elyndra, the finest musical ear her village ever produced. The Crystal Scream of 327 KM took her sight, her family, and her village — and gave her something else: she learned to see through sound, reading the world in vibration more sharply than eyes ever showed it.

The survivors fled. Mireth stayed. Human voices had become unbearable to her — jagged, panicked things — while the crystals'' pain was at least orderly. For eighty years she lived alone among them, speaking in tapped rhythms, until she had nearly forgotten the sound of human speech.

When looters finally came to break the crystals, her grief found the same frequency as the crystals'' own, and the crystals answered. The strike touched only the attackers. Mireth wept afterward — not from fear, but because she had remembered what people were. She is counted a tragic guardian: the one Elyndra keeps, and the one it keeps watch over.
