Void Exile System
The Void Exile is the old punishment of casting criminals into the Void — lawful in theory, and not always in practice.

The Void Exile is an old and heavy punishment: the condemned is cast through a gate into the Void. It predates most written law, and the law has been catching up to it ever since.
In principle the exile requires legal review before it is carried out. History shows the principle bending — most infamously in 638 KM, when Kaelen Vyr, a sixteen-year-old falsely accused, was thrown into the Void by a village lynch mob rather than any court.
The scandal that followed produced the permanent ban on exiling children, carved into the stone council record of the village that broke it. The gate, by then, had closed.
