Card Production
Cards are made from seal-bearing Syleth paper by trained producers — making and using cards are separate disciplines.

Card production begins with the Syleth plant. Syleth is no ordinary crop: its fibers can carry seal power, and paper pressed from them is the only reliable medium a permanent seal will bind to.
The producer works the seal arrangement into the Syleth paper and binds power to the pattern. The work demands its own training, tools, and temperament.
Card producers and card users are frequently different people. The two crafts respect each other the way a shipwright respects a captain: neither is much use drowning.
