Eclipse Night

In 397 KM the city of Salmora fell out of the day-night cycle. For days it hung in a state that was neither — light and shadow locked in a balance no one had words for yet.

The people who endured it came out changed: attuned to the threshold, at ease in half-light, allergic to absolutes. From them came the Eclipse-Born and the Eclipse element.

Solarin Myr, the Night''s best-known survivor, gave the change its philosophy: Eclipse power is not a war between light and dark, but the balance between them. Salmora has lived at twilight — cheerfully — ever since.
